For most, the British Army needs no introduction. This formidable force is revered throughout the world as being responsible for the protection of our homeland and territories for centuries. Training, adaptability and courage have long formed the crux of the British Army, and whilst the role of a soldier has changed in accordance to massive social, political and military conditions over these years, the element of courage has remained constant.

History shows the successes of the Army in battles that have been instrumental in the
preservation of peace and freedom. Their provision of humanitarian assistance
throughout the world, and in recent years their role in Afghanistan, Iraq and the
ongoing fight against terrorism means they have never been more important to us.

From nuclear powered submarines to aircraft carriers, the advancement of technology
has seen the vessels used by the Royal Navy alter somewhat from the galleons of old,
but the incredible level of bravery involved in serving with the Navy is unchanged by
time. The Navy operates globally to play a crucial role in the prevention of conflict,
whilst at all times remaining in a position to fight in order to protect the UK and our
allies. As with all of our armed forces, the Navy has been responsible for saving
countless lives through the provision of humanitarian aid, and serves to provide
security at sea for international trade vessels.

From the earliest days of piloting wooden planes held together with twine, to being
part of a crew flying over enemy territory in a heavy bomber ravaged by anti aircraft
fire and enemy fighter attacks, to flying at mach 2 in a Typhoon fighter jet, there can
be no question of the daring and heroism involved in the personnel of the RAF! There
is of course more to the RAF than the flight crews – a carefully arranged
infrastructure of ground and air crews allow the RAF to control and safeguard UK
airspace, and work alongside the Navy and Army to fight against terrorism and
provide aid to those in need anywhere in the world.

life and death for so many people on a daily basis. Coping with the incredible pressure

of preventing loss of life whilst in situations ranging from road traffic accidents to

we can rest assured that our lives are in the hands of the very best, and most capable
professionals.

As the front line against crime and terrorism, the role of the police officer has never
been more important to home security. Keeping the public, their property and
possessions safe by maintaining law and order is a huge task and requires a very
special type of person. Putting our safety before their own in an almost endless list of
situations is what allows us to lead a normal way of life, secure in the knowledge that
they are only ever a phone call away.

The role of the modern fire-fighter involves so much more than just extinguishing
fires. A considerable part of the position is involved in using skills and training to
ensure the appropriate preventative measures are in place at homes, factories, airports, oil rigs….in fact anywhere and everywhere! When an emergency does occur, a combination of teamwork, training and bravery will be used to control the situation and save lives and property.

Who We Help

Join Forces exists to provide assistance and support for armed forces and emergency services personnel and their families.

During these and many other missions, those serving have been subjected to the horrors of conflict, Combat trauma, both physical and mental, leaves scars that never heal. Injuries such as loss of limbs, sensory deprivation, gunshot wounds and blast injuries along with, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Whenever a member of the British armed forces has suffered illness or injury in or after the course of duty, Join Forces is there to help them.

Since the World Wars of the 20th Century, British armed forces personnel have been involved in wars and peacekeeping missions throughout the world, including the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Falklands Conflict, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Bosnia, Malaysia and of course the ongoing War on Terror. Our service men and women have undertaken extraordinary tasks in defence of our nation, and to protect those most in need, regardless of nationality.

Armed Forces
Our Misson

“As many as 75,000 British service personnel may have been left wounded, sick or psychologically harmed following the UK’s wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

Our mission statement is to provide a source of guidance, counselling, financial support and comfort for them and their families whenever it is needed, and allow those that served to maintain a meaningful connection with family, community and employers.

Emergency Services

Protecting the lives of those that protect you

Emergency services personnel deal with challenging and dangerous situations every single day. These can often involve members of the public who are killed, injured or in danger, and this therefore creates very unique stresses and challenges, many of which can endanger the lives of those in attendance to protect others. Research has also shown that members of the emergency services are at a heightened risk of experiencing a mental health problem than the general population, but are less likely to seek support.

Join Forces seeks to provide practical and emotional support for emergency workers of the police, ambulance and fire services who are left to cope with often life changing circumstances without any formal support structure, In addition to the huge number of incidents regularly attended by our emergency services, the ever increasing threat of terrorism and terrorist attacks means that we are more reliant than ever on their courage. Helping them when they need us is the least we can do.
